An Accurate Representation Of History - 1503 Words
Studying History Accurately History is very unique to itself when compared to other subjects. Historians and novelist both spend a lot of time doing research in order to accurately write about history. It is very important for historians to gather accurate information from multiple sides of a historical event to be sure what they are writing about is true. Historians and novelist canââ¬â¢t just repeat the process or redo an experiment to prove that it is correct. If a historian only writes from one perspective it will be slandered. In order to portray an accurate representation of history a writer must research the historical event and include multiple perspectives. It is also important for a student to read multiple writings about the time period and event in order to grasp an accurate portrayal of the historical event and significance. In the West African History portion of the class we learned about the womenââ¬â¢s war. The women s war was a war against the women of Africa and colonialism. The women were tired of being oppressed and eventually fought back. Not only did the women fight back, they fought in a way that used their gender to empower themselves. While reading the novel Things Fall Apart written by Chinua Achebe we gain a perspective of how women were treated and respected in the Igbo culture.
